Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing critical care in a Telemetry unit with a focus on patient monitoring and support. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, experience in an acute care setting, and the ability to handle a variety of patient diagnoses.

Unit Information

• Telemetry unit with 18 beds, including 6 PCU capable beds, all private rooms.
• The unit may accommodate COVID patients as needed, with appropriate air handling systems and temporary walls in place.
• Support staff includes telemetry technicians, charge nurses, Health Unit Coordinators (HUCs), and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs).
• Compassionate care is facilitated by a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 in general telemetry and 1:3 in PCU/Stepdown settings.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients using Phillips telemetry equipment, with the expectation to validate and document telemetry interpretations.
• Administer medications and treatments as per established protocols, including Cardizem, amiodarone, bumex, Lasix, integrillin, octreotide, and protonix.
• Collaborate with a team that includes in-house hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacy staff available 24/7 for comprehensive patient care.
• Conduct patient rounds and work with nurse managers who supervise but do not provide direct patient care.
• Participate in weekend shifts, with a requirement of every other weekend.
• Orientation will include 2-3 days with a preceptor for thorough familiarization with unit procedures and protocols.

Qualifications

• Required: 1-2 years of telemetry experience in a MedSurg acute care setting.
• 2 years of experience is required; 3 years preferred for this position.
• Ability to float to various MedSurg units as needed.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to effectively manage critical situations.

• Stroke/TIA
• Pneumonia
• Renal diagnoses including dialysis
• Atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response (Afib RVR)
• Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS)
• Diabetes Mellitus (DM)
