Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical Surgical unit provides high-quality care to patients, ensuring a safe and supportive environment. This role emphasizes teamwork and communication among medical staff to deliver optimal patient outcomes.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 17
• Patient Ratios: 1:6 max ratio
• Patient Population: Adults aged 18+ with a majority being 65+
• Equipment: Various medical equipment as necessary for patient care
• EHR System: Paragon

Shift Information

• Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: Weekend rotations available

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, documenting changes and relaying important information to the healthcare team.
• Manage PICC/CVC lines and perform wound care as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to patients.
• Participate in educational initiatives to improve patient outcomes and staff performance.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a medical surgical or equivalent nursing position.
• Special Skills: Strong ability in PICC/CVC management and wound care.
• Float Requirements: Potential to float between different medical surgical units as needed.
