Job Description
Occupational Therapist Assistant
Join our team as an Occupational Therapist Assistant where you will play a crucial role in providing rehabilitative and skilled treatment interventions to patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders. This is an opportunity to utilize evidence-based practice to support quality patient care in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Implement rehabilitative treatment interventions as directed by an Occupational Therapist.
- Administer various procedures as part of personalized rehabilitation plans, including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, and modalities.
- Assess patient progress and communicate updates to the supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments as necessary.
- Provide consultations to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers concerning cognitive and physical disorders.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress and treatment plans.
- Document all required clinical and regulatory information in electronic documentation systems, ensuring accuracy in patient records.
- Contribute to discharge summaries and provide input for treatment plans.
- Participate in meetings, including patient care conferences and rehabilitation meetings, to discuss patient care strategies.
- Engage in facility training and educational offerings to enhance professional development.
- Support and supervise students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
- Adhere to the standards set by NBCOT, AOTA, and state regulatory practices during all professional activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.
- Experience in long-term care (LTC) or rehabilitation settings is required.
- Must hold a current COTA license.
- Active state licensure/registration when applicable.
