Job Description
Hematology/Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Hematology/Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. This is a full-time position that requires a compassionate and attentive individual to provide high-quality care to pediatric patients undergoing infusion treatments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments of pediatric patients before, during, and after chemotherapy and infusion treatments.
- Administer chemotherapy, blood products, and supportive medications safely.
- Monitor patients for side effects and adverse reactions, intervening promptly as necessary.
- Manage central lines (ports, PICCs) while adhering to sterile techniques.
- Provide pain management, symptom relief, and supportive care for issues such as nausea and fatigue.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment protocols, potential side effects, and home care routines.
- Offer emotional support to both children and their caregivers throughout the treatment process.
- Collaborate effectively with oncologists and interdisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Document all care activities, medication administration, and patient responses accurately within the electronic health record system.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current registered nurse (RN) license or temporary permit in Minnesota.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- PEARS or PALS certification.
- Completion of the Pediatric Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Course through APHON or an equivalent program within the last five years.
- A minimum of two years of nursing experience working with pediatric Hematology/Oncology patients.
Work Schedule:
This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, with a shift length of 8 hours during daytime hours.
Uniform:
Required attire includes royal blue scrub bottoms paired with a kid-friendly shirt or scrub top.
