Registered Nurse (RN) / Cardiac Observation

The registered nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit delivers exceptional care for patients undergoing procedures in the Cath Lab. This role involves evaluating assigned patients and planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care. The registered nurse will assist physicians during examinations and procedures, perform a variety of patient tests, and administer medications within the scope of practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Admit patients to the Cardiac Observation Unit.
• Prepare patients for catheterization procedures, including charting pre-procedure checklists, initiating IV access, and preparing for necessary procedures.
• Prepare and assist patients for Cardioversions and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
• Recover patients following catheterization procedures under conscious sedation.
• Perform sedation, circulation, and documentation for bedside procedures, including Cardioversions and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
• Provide patient education during discharge, ensuring proper documentation and physical discharge processes are followed.

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in Arizona or a compact state.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Telemetry, Catheterization Lab, or Surgery Center.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.

Shift Information:

• Three shifts of 12 hours each (e.g., 0600-1830, 0700-1930, 0800-2030) with varied scheduling.
• Call requirements include weekends on a rotational basis, approximately every four to six weeks.
