ICU Neonatal Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary:

The competent nurse in this role practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a clinical situation. This position involves providing routine and complex care and managing long-term goals and plans. The nurse will continue to develop skills to cope with and manage the complexities of clinical nursing while effectively delegating tasks to other care providers to manage clinical situations efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Meets expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provides nursing care in accordance with the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Adds to the assessment of increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers while identifying issues and resources.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

• Current STABLE certification required from an accredited course.
• Current BLS certification required (AHA only).
• Current NRP certification required.
• RN License in the state of Texas or compact required.

Position Requirements:

Education/Skills:

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, with initial onboarding requirements validated through successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation and a Perinatal Services-specific competency validation.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary.

Experience:

• Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a Perinatal Setting is preferred.

Work Schedule:

This position requires night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
