Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our inpatient rehabilitation team. This role is essential in providing high-quality patient care in an acute rehabilitation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report changes to the nursing staff.
- Provide support in mobility and rehabilitation exercises.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and needs.
- Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team to promote optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in skilled nursing or a similar 24/7 care setting, preferably in inpatient rehabilitation or medical-surgical units.
- Current BLS certification is required.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR); experience with EPIC is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to high standards of patient care.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to patient care and rehabilitation.
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 50
- Patient Ratios: 1:8-10 for day shift, 1:10-12 for night shift based on acuity.
- Common Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, spinal cord injuries, amputations, traumatic brain injuries, complex orthopedic injuries.
Working Conditions
- This position requires working 12-hour shifts. Weekend shifts and holiday rotation may apply.
- Staff are required to take a mandatory 30-minute break during shifts, and are allowed two 15-minute paid breaks.
- Attendance and punctuality are crucial, with adherence to attendance policies expected.
Dress Code
- Scrubs are required; color is flexible.
- Unacceptable attire includes hooded sweatshirts, hair bonnets, and non-healthcare related graphic shirts.
Additional Notes
The facility occasionally experiences high acuity situations similar to those found in medical-surgical environments. All nursing assistants are expected to assist with patient calls to ensure safety and provide support to nursing staff as needed.
