Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU/Stepdown

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for our PCU/Stepdown unit. This position requires strong clinical skills, particularly with cardiac drip management, as well as the ability to titrate and manage medications effectively. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, providing high-quality care to a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the PCU/Stepdown unit.
• Administer medications, including intravenous cardiac drips, and monitor patient responses.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in the electronic health record system.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to best practices.

Shift and Scheduling

This is a day shift position, requiring three 12-hour shifts per week (07:00 – 19:00). Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Block schedules are not utilized in this role.

Patient Ratios

The expected nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4, ensuring a manageable workload and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a PCU or Stepdown unit.
• Strong experience with cardiac drips required; ability to titrate and manage is a hard stop requirement.
• Experience with electronic health record systems, preferably Epic.

Additional Information

Candidates may choose one holiday off—either Thanksgiving or Christmas—but cannot take both. While this position may involve floating to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical floors if overstaffed, no on-call shifts are required. 48-hour workweeks are approved.
