Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position is vital in providing high-quality care to our patients in a state-of-the-art facility specializing in the care of high-risk infants.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to neonates in the NICU.
• Assess patients’ conditions and administer treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Monitor patients and provide timely interventions based on their needs.
• Participate in the education of patients and their families regarding care plans and treatment.

Shift Details

The position requires a commitment to a 4×12-hour day shift schedule, with flexibility to accommodate unit needs. Weekend shifts are required, totaling 2 per month, and will be scheduled on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a permanent staff RN in a NICU setting.
• At least 3 years of NICU experience at a Level III facility.
• Experience in a teaching hospital is preferred.
• Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are required.
• Must possess flexibility to float to Mother-Baby units to provide care for babies only.

Additional Information

• Floating within the hospital is required; however, floating to sister facilities is not permitted.
• Block scheduling is not available unless explicitly stated otherwise.
• In case of low census, staff may be called off without charge or placed on-call in 4-hour increments.
• Candidates must be able to accommodate a maximum of 1 week of requested time off (RTO).

Work Environment

This is a 54-bed Level III NICU that serves as a regional referral center for high-risk infants. The unit primarily cares for very low birth weight premature infants requiring ventilatory support.
