Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Telemetry unit. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients with various cardiac conditions. This position requires a commitment to working night shifts and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with cardiac diagnoses, including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, and CAD.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and provide post-operative care for cardiac procedures.
• Administer medications and manage cardiac drips, including titration as needed.
• Perform sheath removal, manage external CPAP/BIPAP, and assist with non-invasive airway management.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes, including during catastrophic events or disasters.
• Participate in assigned rotations and weekend shifts as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor is required.
• Traveler experience is preferred unless the candidate has over 24 months of cardiac experience.
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications are essential. NIHSS certification is also required.
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and management of dysrhythmias.
• Preferred skills include arterial line management, wound care, and charge experience.

Work Schedule

This position is for night shifts, requiring 36 hours per week. Full-time contracts of 13 to 26 weeks are available. Weekend availability is required at a rate of 4 weekends per 4 weeks.

Unit Details

The cardiac telemetry unit operates with patient ratios of 1:6, varying per acuity. Orientation will be 24 hours, and standard scrubs are navy.

Special Equipment and Procedures

• Familiarity with arterial lines, Doppler, EKG, chest tubes, and Epicardial pacing wires.
• Experience with CABG, AVR, MVR, and other cardiac and thoracic procedures is beneficial.
