Physical Therapist

Summary/Objective: The physical therapist is responsible for implementing patient rehabilitation programs aimed at enhancing mobility, function, and strength.

Essential Functions:

• Hold a valid license as a Physical Therapist in the applicable state.
• Maintain and update professional skills and certifications as necessary.
• Evaluate and treat patients through physical therapy and rehabilitation programs.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to complete evaluations, reports, and discharge summaries.
• Guide and monitor patient care during all aspects of treatment and follow-up.
• Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides regarding patient care.
• Communicate with healthcare providers to ensure quality patient care.
• Document patient charts accurately and follow up on prescriptions, test results, and authorizations.
• Ensure patient comfort and address inquiries as necessary.
• Collaborate with front office staff on scheduling and patient follow-up.
• Possess computer skills necessary for job requirements (typing, Word, Internet, EMR, etc.).
• Make independent decisions about patient care when necessary.
• Engage in business marketing and referral processes as required.
• Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures.
• Understand billing policies and procedures related to various payment sources.
• Demonstrate proficiency in diagnosis and ICD-10 coding for service billing.
• Be physically mobile, exhibiting a combination of sitting, walking, and standing for prolonged periods.
• Assist in lifting patients and providing safe mobility support.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position includes supervising Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides in all patient care aspects.

Work Environment:

This position is based in an outpatient/rehabilitation setting focused on physical therapy.

Job Responsibilities Related to Patient Privacy:

• Safeguard all patient information according to privacy policies and legal regulations.
• Access protected health information only to complete job duties.
• Share patient information only with necessary individuals involved in treatment and operations.
• Report any concerns regarding privacy policy violations to the designated Privacy Officer.
• Participate in Company privacy training and educate others on privacy policies as required.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands outlined here represent what an employee must meet to successfully perform essential functions, including walking, sitting, standing, bending, and lifting during working hours. The role involves lifting objects over 50 pounds and constantly ensuring patient safety.

Required Education and Experience:

• Degree in Physical Therapy.
• Continuing Education courses preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

• Must hold an active license or plan to test for licensure as a Physical Therapist in the respective state.
