Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical

Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide care in a Medical/Surgical setting, focusing on stroke stepdown patients. The position involves working with a diverse patient demographic, primarily adults, experiencing various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with strokes, altered mental status, renal issues, and other general medical-surgical conditions.
• Monitor patient conditions and implement appropriate treatment plans.
• Utilize specialty equipment including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Be prepared to float to other units as required.

Shift Details

The position is for the night shift, operating from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Block scheduling is not guaranteed.

Qualifications

• Current and active RN license in New York and all active RN licenses.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience.
• Demonstrated travel experience as a registered nurse.
• Current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications are required (NIHSS certification can be obtained prior to start).
• Skills checklist must match the specialty area.

Unit Information

The unit consists of 64 beds and primarily focuses on stroke stepdown patients along with various other medical issues such as pneumonia and pulmonary complications.

Patient Care Environment

Staff will engage with adult patients experiencing a wide range of medical conditions requiring specialized nursing care.
