Occupational Therapist (OT) – Acute Care Hospital

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide high-quality care in an acute care hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in orthopedics, splinting techniques, and experience with various neurological disorders.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions for patients with orthopedic conditions and neurological disorders.
• Create and implement individualized treatment plans, focusing on improving patients’ functional abilities.
• Utilize dynamic, functional, and static splinting methods to support patient recovery and rehabilitation.
• Assist patients with amputations and those affected by Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, and other progressive neurological disorders.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in occupational therapy, with first-time travelers accepted.
• Required skills: Orthopedics, dynamic splints, functional splints, static splints, amputee care, upper/lower extremity rehabilitation, and knowledge of Parkinson’s disease and arthritis.
• Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Valid Georgia State License and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are mandatory.

Schedule

This position requires a flexible schedule of 5 days a week, with options to consider 4 days at 10 hours each. Weekend and holiday shifts are also part of the rotation, with every other weekend required.

Additional Information

• No on-call responsibilities.
• Possible floating within the facility as needed.
• Compliance with full requirements is necessary to ensure a timely start; orientation hours are based on assignment length.

Holiday Requirements

If any major holiday falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work. The definition of major holidays includes:

• Memorial Day
• Independence Day
• Labor Day
• Thanksgiving/Black Friday
• Christmas Eve/Christmas Day
• New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day
