Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)

Join our team as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in a Long-Term Care setting. This position offers the opportunity to work with patients in their journey to regain independence and improve their quality of life through targeted therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Treatment Implementation: Execute specialized therapy plans developed by the Occupational Therapist, guiding patients through therapeutic exercises and activities aimed at enhancing motor skills and coordination.
• ADL Training: Instruct patients in performing Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and eating with a focus on adaptive techniques.
• Adaptive Equipment: Educate patients and their families on the use of specialized tools like reachers, mobility aids, and modified kitchen utensils to support functional independence.
• Monitoring and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of patient progress, behavioral changes, and safety concerns. Communicate findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist to modify treatment plans as necessary.
• Education and Support: Provide emotional support to patients and train caregivers in assisting with home programs to promote continuous improvement.
• Operational Tasks: Prepare treatment areas, clean equipment, and perform administrative tasks such as scheduling.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in a Long-Term Care setting is required.
• Current Texas or Compact License is required.
• Experience as a Director of Rehabilitation is preferred.
