Job Description

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) plays a vital role in providing rehabilitative care to patients with cognitive and physical functioning disorders. Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the OTA utilizes evidence-based practices to implement treatment interventions in alignment with regulatory and clinical practice requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide skilled and medically necessary treatment interventions, including activities of daily living (ADL) retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, and modalities.
• Administer treatments as per the rehabilitation plan developed in conjunction with the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Assess patient progress and collaborate with the Occupational Therapist to adjust treatment plans accordingly.
• Communicate treatment outcomes and effectiveness to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
• Consult with patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding cognitive and physical disorders.
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation in the electronic health record system, ensuring compliance with regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Participate in meetings, including patient care conferences and rehabilitation meetings.
• Support and supervise students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
• Adhere to the ethics and conduct regulations as required by professional organizations and state laws.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA).
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or rehabilitation settings.
• Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
• Active state licensure/registration in Texas, if applicable.

This position does not have weekend or on-call requirements, offering a consistent daily schedule within a supportive care environment.
