Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

The Medical-Surgical/Ortho Unit is seeking dedicated and skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our team on a full-time basis. This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, focusing on post-operative care and medical-surgical interventions.

Position Details

• Unit Type: Medical-Surgical/Ortho
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Notes: Night shifts (12-hour shifts)
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend (6 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period)
• Holiday Requirement: Rotating holidays

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments according to established guidelines and protocols.
• Deliver patient-centered care with effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions, including titration of drips such as heparin and TPN.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities.
• Participate in unit meetings and collaborate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must possess an active RN license and BLS certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a medical-surgical or orthopedic setting is preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a healthcare team.
• Ability to perform accurately under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Additional Information

• Uniform requirement: Navy scrubs.
• Unit orientation will be provided to all new team members.
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas.
• Floating to other medical-surgical units may occur, but this will be rare.
