Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse delivers coordinated nursing care for an assigned patient or group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. This role includes supervising and directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff and coordinating care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking, professional discretion, and independent judgment.

Education and Work Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
• Acute care facility experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor: Required
• AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification: Required
• AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS certification: Required

Essential Functions

• Collects relevant data pertinent to the patient’s health or situation.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses and care issues.
• Develops a care plan that prescribes interventions for desired outcomes.
• Implements the care plan, coordinates care delivery, and promotes a safe environment.
• Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes.
• Identifies patient-specific outcomes.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare providers to deliver safe and effective patient care.
• Provides learning opportunities for patients, family members, and team members.
• Directly provides health information to patients, families, and treatment teams.
• Participates in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegates tasks appropriately and coordinates duties within the healthcare team.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
