Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Position Overview
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a dynamic operating room setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in surgical procedures and will be able to circulate and scrub, ensuring a sterile environment and supporting surgical teams effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe and effective nursing care in the operating room.
- Circulate and scrub for various surgical procedures, including but not limited to general, plastic, gynecological, ENT, trauma, neuro, orthopedic, GU, and colorectal surgeries.
- Participate in the preparation and maintenance of a sterile field.
- Monitor patient vitals and provide immediate post-operative care as needed.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of operating room experience required, with Trauma Level I experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS may be advantageous.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or valid compact/temporary license at the time of start.
- Ability to float within the unit and to other areas of the facility as needed.
- Demonstrated experience in various surgical procedures including abdominal and gynecological surgeries, orthopedic procedures, and trauma care.
Work Environment
The operating room is part of a short-term acute care setting serving a diverse patient population. The unit averages a daily census of 70-80 patients and operates 21 surgical rooms.
Additional Information
- Orientation and training will be provided as needed.
- Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays.
- Flu vaccination is required unless an exemption is provided.
