Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Job Description

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist. The role entails utilizing evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions and ensuring compliance with regulatory and clinical practice requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Administers various rehabilitation procedures including manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, and modalities.
• Utilizes supportive and assistive devices as part of the treatment intervention.
• Assesses patient progress, adjusting treatments as necessary in coordination with the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Communicates treatment outcomes effectively with the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Provides consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Maintains clear communication with health team members regarding patient progress and treatment plans.
• Documents all required information accurately in the electronic documentation system.
• Participates in required meetings, including patient care and rehabilitation meetings.
• Engages in facility and company-required training, in-services, and conferences.
• Supports students under the guidance of the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Adheres to APTA and state required practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics.
• Maintains active state licensure as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of PTA experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) settings.
• Valid PTA license in the state of practice.
• New graduates are welcome to apply, provided they have Level II experience.

Work Schedule

This position requires a Monday to Friday schedule consisting of 8-hour days. Start times are flexible between 6 AM and 10 AM, and no weekend work is required unless a holiday falls on a weekday.
