Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in a Medical Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will be prepared to work on an Inclement Weather Team and may be responsible for providing care to COVID-19 patients. This role includes both routine nursing duties and responsibilities associated with storm preparedness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to adult and geriatric patients, including general Med/Surg care.
- Manage medications and treatments, including heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high flow oxygen therapy.
- Possibly monitor patients requiring short-term BiPap with respiratory support (no additional training required).
- Participate in unit team meetings and complete all necessary orientation and training activities.
- Respond to emergencies and adapt to various unit needs, including potential COVID-19 patient care.
- Work as part of an Inclement Weather Team, which may require attendance during catastrophic events or disasters.
Work Schedule
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15).
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week accepted.
- Every other weekend required.
- Must be available to work on holidays.
- Call required if scheduled for on-call shift.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
- EPIC experience is mandatory.
- Current BCLS certification required; CPI and charge nurse experience preferred.

Patient Care and Environment
Daily census approximately 43 patients. No PCU level patients will be on this unit. The Registered Nurse will be expected to float to similar units and alternate care locations when necessary.
Orientation and Training
- Unit orientation: 24 hours.
- Participation in monthly team meetings is required.
Uniform
Scrubs are not provided. Navy color is required.
Additional Information
All staff must pass an EKG testing prior to starting. The candidate will also be expected to participate actively in the team to accommodate unit needs and patient care requirements effectively.
