Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology/Hematology

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with expertise in Oncology and Hematology to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with hematological and oncology diagnoses.
• Administer treatments, including inpatient chemotherapy and supportive care for progressive illnesses.
• Manage symptom relief and palliative care for patients at various stages of their conditions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient management.
• Document patient interactions accurately using the Epic charting system.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.

Qualifications

• Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Kansas or a multistate license.
• Current AHA BLS certification is required at the time of submission. Chemotherapy certification is preferred.
• ADN or BSN degree from an accredited nursing program is required.
• A minimum of 1 year of acute care nursing experience is required; experience in oncology and hematology is highly preferred.

Contract Details

• Contract length is preferred at 26 weeks or longer; a 13-week contract may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• 36-hour workweek with 12-hour shifts; every other weekend rotation is expected.
• 1 holiday off is permitted upon request, with specific holidays designated for rotation.
• Float to other post-surgical and medical-surgical inpatient floors may be required.

Work Environment

The unit consists of 21 beds dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of hematological and oncology conditions, including specialized medical care for patients with tracheostomies. The staffing ratios are typically 1:6, and 1:4 when active chemotherapy is being administered. Professional attire is a navy scrub color, and visible tattoos and body adornments are allowed as long as they are in line with a professional setting.

Vaccination Requirements

Candidates must provide documentation of immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella, obtained through titers or proof of vaccination series. TDaP and Influenza vaccinations or exemption requests must be submitted during flu season, along with TB documentation.
