Registered Nurse II – MedSurg/Tele Float Pool

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse II for our MedSurg/Tele Float Pool. This role involves working in a dynamic environment supporting multiple medical-surgical, telemetry, neuro, and observation units. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telemetry nursing, particularly within a Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a variety of settings, ensuring high standards of nursing practice.
• Float between different units based on staffing needs, adapting to varying patient populations and care requirements.
• Perform assessments, develop care plans, and implement nursing interventions effectively.
• Participate in the shift huddle to receive and understand daily assignments and unit-specific information.
• Complete quality skin assessments and document all care at the bedside.
• Attend two shifts of orientation and additional educational sessions as necessary.

Shift Information

• 12-hour shifts; day shifts available.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week.
• Weekend requirement: 4 shifts per 4 weeks, inclusive of Saturdays and Sundays.
• Holidays may be required based on unit coverage and staffing needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Med/surg/telemetry nursing.
• Level 1 trauma experience is mandatory.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS certification preferred.
• Proficient in basic dysrhythmia interpretation (passing score of 80% required).
• Demonstrated competency in sterile procedures, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Must be adaptable and willing to float to various units as required.

Additional Information

• No on-call responsibilities; response time for standby shifts is 30 minutes.
• Shifts are scheduled 4 weeks in advance and may change based on hospital needs.
• Orientation includes unit-specific training, with an emphasis on patient care protocols.
