Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in Cardiac Telemetry to join our team. The position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with various cardiac conditions in a telemetry unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor patient telemetry and assess cardiac rhythms.
• Manage patient care in the PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown setting.
• Perform sheath removal and manage post-procedural care.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias appropriately.
• Administer cardiac drips and titrate as necessary.
• Provide pre and post-operative care for cardiac catheterization patients.
• Utilize non-invasive airway management techniques such as CPAP/BIPAP.
• Assist with chest tube management using Emerson/Pleuravac systems.
• Participate in patient education and recovery plans.

• Cardiomyopathy
• Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD) / Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)
• Vasculitis
• Carotid Stenosis
• Venous Stasis

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience on a cardiac floor required.
• Traveler experience preferred, unless the candidate has over 24 months of cardiac experience.
• BLS & ACLS certifications required.
• NIHSS certification is a plus.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Arterial line management
• Wound care and wound vac experience
• Charge experience

Shift Details

• Ratios: 1:6, varying by acuity
• Shift: Nights (36 hours per week)
• Contract Length: 13-26 weeks accepted
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekends per 4 weeks, flexible

Orientation and Equipment

• Orientation: 24 hours
• Required Equipment: Arterial lines, Doppler, Bladder scanner, EKG, and chest tubes.

• Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
• Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
• Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
• Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
• Mitral Clip procedures
• Watchman procedure
• VATS, vascular surgeries, and general thoracic surgeries

Additional Requirements

Candidates must pass an EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty. Contract staff may be required to work on a Storm or Hurricane Team and report for duty during catastrophic events or disasters.
