The Neuro Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive nursing care to patients with neurological and surgical conditions, emphasizing quality and safety in every aspect of their practice.

Position Information

• Role: RN
• Specialty: Med Surg Neuro
• Number of Openings: 1
• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM); block requests may be considered but are not guaranteed
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Requirements: As needed
• Call Requirements: N/A
• Required Certifications: BLS, NIH (can be completed during Orientation)
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year
• Float Requirements: Customary, will float to Med Surg and Progressive as needed

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 17
• Patient Ratios: 1:6
• Equipment: Customary, including IV pumps
• EMR: EPIC

Hiring Profile

• Must Have Skills/Experience: Charge experience or willingness to learn and take on charge duties
• Preferred Skills/Experience: Neuro and Stroke experience highly preferred
• Type of Patients on Unit: Medical and Surgical Neuro patients, including Parkinson’s, Stroke, and Lumbar conditions; no trauma patients
• Personality Fit: Excellent team player with strong communication skills; attentive and caring towards patient outcomes

Job Summary

The Neuro Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care by:

• Developing nursing diagnoses and establishing care objectives
• Providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families
• Documenting patient care services and maintaining confidentiality
• Monitoring, recording, and reporting changes in patients’ conditions
• Coordinating with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care
• Administering medications, performing wound care, and monitoring for reactions or side effects
• Instructing patients and families on health education and self-care skills
• Participating in safety practices and advocating for patient safety
• Attending Neuroscience Nursing courses as assigned

Contract Details

• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (up to 26 weeks upon request)
• Requested Time Off: Up to 5 days in each 13 weeks can be automatically approved
• Weekends: Expectation to work every other full weekend unless otherwise approved
• Holidays: Candidates should be prepared to work at least one major holiday
