Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have at least 1.5 years of L&D experience and must be skilled in providing comprehensive care to obstetric patients.

Shift Requirements

• 3×12 or 4×12 shift options available
• Night shifts from 19:00 to 07:30

Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of L&D experience required
• First-time travelers not accepted
• Certifications required:
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN Intermediate Course
• Local candidates will not be accepted

Floating Requirements

Candidates may be asked to float to the Emergency Department at a nearby facility, but will not take primary assignments. A brief orientation to the unit and supplies is required prior to the first shift.

Scheduling and Availability

• Must work 2/3 major holidays
• Guaranteed hours:
  • 8 and 10 hour shifts: 40 hours in one workweek
  • 3, 12 hour shifts: 36 hours in one workweek
  • 4, 12 hour shifts: 48 hours in one workweek

Special Requirements

• L&D travel experience preferred
• Experience with a facility averaging 200-300 births per month
• Proficiency in:
  • Non-Stress Tests (NST)
  • Reflex checks, edema assessment, clonus
  • Use of External Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM)
  • Management of high-risk conditions such as diabetes mellitus, pre-eclampsia, and multiple gestation
  • Delivery assistance, including forceps, vacuum extraction, and VBAC management
  • Neonatal care, including resuscitation and thermoregulation
  • Pain management techniques, including epidural anesthesia
  • Administering medications, including antihypertensives and insulin drips
  • Wound assessment and care, including postpartum hemorrhage management
• Experience with Cerner documentation preferred
