Laboratory Technologist

Shift and Training

This position involves a night shift schedule of 1830-0630, with a rotation of seven days on and seven days off, beginning on Thursday night. Initial training will take place on the day shift from 0600-1430 for a duration of 2-3 weeks.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Possess strong experience in blood banking.
• Support and communicate laboratory initiatives and philosophies.
• Collect, process, and receive various specimens (blood, urine, fecal samples, body fluids) for analysis across all clinical laboratory departments.
• Evaluate and resolve problems related to the collection and processing of biological specimens from all age ranges.
• Participate in the assessment of new techniques and procedures within the laboratory, considering personnel, equipment, costs, and the establishment of reference intervals; contribute to writing and revising technical procedures.
• Perform complex laboratory procedures, recognize deviations from expected results, and analyze and resolve issues using scientific principles.
• Analyze quality control data, make decisions concerning results, and take appropriate actions to maintain accuracy and precision.
• Respond to inquiries regarding test results, methodology, test specificity and sensitivity, as well as specific factors that may influence test results.
• Review all instrument indicators and temperature monitors within the laboratory departments.
• Maintain self-competency in laboratory skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or an Associate’s Degree for grandfathered personnel).
• Current licenses and certifications such as CLS or MT (ASCP) or an equivalent.
• New MT graduates must pass the certification exam within six months of the start date of employment.
