Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a Med Surg unit to provide high-quality care to patients during the night shift. The position guarantees 48 hours per week and requires two years of experience.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical Surgical
• Number of Beds: 30
• Nurse:Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:5-6
• Common Patient Diagnoses:
  • Total joint replacements
  • Spinal surgeries
  • Urological procedures
  • Abdominal surgeries (laparoscopic appendectomy, bowel resection)
  • Bariatric surgeries
  • Medical overflow
  • Frequent use of hemovacs and JP drains, colostomies
• Experience Preferred: Surgical experience, post-operative care, and early ambulation.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and supervise patient care.
• Assist with first-time travelers and ensure team communication.
• Participate in bedside shift report and maintain a positive team culture.
• Float to medical and telemetry units as needed.

Qualifications

• Certifications Required: BLS Certification
• Minimum Experience: 2 years
• Skills Required: Comfortable with first-time travelers; no titration of drips required; occasional use of PCA pump, TPN, and heparin drips.

Work Environment

• Charge Nurse available on each shift; nights occasionally take low acuity assignments.
• Patient care techs available at a ratio of 1:12.
• Remote tele packs and monitor techs available for patient monitoring.
• Self-scheduling considered based on unit needs.
• Weekend requirement: every other week; holidays as needed.
• Scrubs: any color.
