Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Job Description

The primary responsibility of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is to provide direct physical therapy interventions as planned, delegated, and supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist. This role includes recording treatments administered and noting progress in medical records to ensure the highest quality of care is provided to residents and patients.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, plan, and administer treatment to residents and patients with temporary or long-term disabilities to relieve pain, restore or improve function, and promote healing.
• Deliver all treatment following an established plan of care.
• Provide clinical support and instruction to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Monitor patient responses to treatment interventions.
• Complete required forms and documentation in accordance with company policy and state/federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program (Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education).
• Certification from the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) for PTAs, administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).
• Strong understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow instructions from a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Empathy and patience when working with patients.
• Physical stamina to assist patients with movement and exercises.
