Medical Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Job Overview

The Medical Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a critical role in providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position requires sound decision-making based on nursing education, experience, and established hospital policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver delegated aspects of direct patient care including physical examination and data collection.
• Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Educate patients on their health conditions and care instructions.
• Administer medications and manage peripheral IV therapy.
• Assist in discharge planning and implement physician’s orders.
• Accurately document patient care and progress in the electronic health record.
• Maintain clinical competencies through continuous education and skill development.
• Supervise and direct assigned personnel in delivering patient care.

Qualifications

• Current and valid LPN/LVN license.
• BLS certification required.
• NIHSS certification required.
• IV certification preferred.
• Cerner experience preferred.
• Must reside 50+ miles away from the facility.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in a medical-surgical setting.

Shift Information

This position requires the ability to work night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
