Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical (Nursing)

Job Description

The Medical/Surgical unit is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to provide care for stroke stepdown patients. This position requires a professional who is organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong clinical skills.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown
• Common Diagnoses: Stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, dialysis, COPD, CHF, isolation, general medical-surgical conditions, pneumonia, and pulmonary issues.
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Number of Beds: 64

Shift and Scheduling

• Shift: 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed
• Floating: Required

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience
• Current AHA BLS certification
• NIHSS certification (can be obtained prior to start)
• Active NY RN license and all active RN licenses verified via NURSYS report
• Proficiency with EMR, specifically EPIC

Specialty Equipment

• IV pumps
• N/G tubes
• Feeding tubes
