Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for a Medical/Surgical unit specializing in stroke stepdown care. This role requires a dedicated professional with experience in managing various patient conditions, particularly those recovering from strokes.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown
• Patient Demographics: Adults
• Number of Beds: 64
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Stroke
  • Altered mental status
  • Renal and dialysis issues
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Congestive heart failure (CHF)
  • Isolation cases
  • Pneumonia
  • Other pulmonary issues
• Specialty Equipment Used:
  • IV pumps
  • Naso-gastric (N/G) tubes
  • Feeding tubes

Shift Information

Available shifts are from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Please note that block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Floating between units may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in Medical/Surgical with stroke stepdown experience.
• EMR experience with EPIC is preferred.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is required and can be obtained prior to the start of employment.
• Licenses verification through NURSYS with an active New York nursing license and all active RN licenses.
• Registered Nurse with valid driver’s license matching demographic information.
