Registered Nurse (RN) – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)

Position Overview

This position is for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse who is responsible for providing critical care to pediatric patients. The successful candidate will have a strong background in critical care nursing, with experience in various surgical and medical specialties.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer breathing treatments and provide care for patients on ventilators.
• Perform chest tube set-up and care, as well as high-frequency ventilation.
• Conduct procedure sedation and administer rapid sequence intubation drugs.
• Provide tracheostomy care and manage various infusion and pain management devices.
• Administer blood products and manage central venous access devices.
• Manage patients with drains, epidural pumps, and PCA pumps.
• Conduct assessments including obtaining 12-lead EKGs.
• Provide comprehensive patient care including wound vac management and traction/care for halo and pin devices.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid nursing license and possess a compact license as recognized.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a critical care environment required.
• Charge nurse experience is preferred.
• First-time travelers with relevant experience are welcome to apply.
• Certifications Required: BLS and PALS.
• Preferred Certifications: NRP and CRRT.

Schedule Requirements

• This position requires flexibility to float to the NICU or other appropriate units.
• Every other weekend availability is mandatory.
• Orientation is provided to ensure familiarity with unit protocols.

Additional Information

Perm candidates from other facilities are eligible for a travel contract if they have been separated for at least 3 months. No holiday requests for time off will be accommodated. Perm staff self-schedule first, with traveler shifts adjusted to meet unit needs.
