Job Description

Unit Information

• Unit Cost Center: 6000
• Unit Type: ED/MedSurg Swing
• Number of Beds: 22
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:4 in acute care, 1:6 in swing bed, 1:4 in ED
• Floating Requirements: Will float to ED holds if needed; may also work as charge nurse

Job Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the ED/MedSurg Swing unit.
• Titrate drips and manage medications according to established protocols.
• Monitor patient conditions, read EKG strips, and respond to emergencies effectively.
• Assist in the coordination of patient care with interdisciplinary teams.
• Participate in staff meetings and ongoing education programs.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS.
• Minimum of one year of MedSurg nursing experience.
• Familiarity with using respiratory equipment such as NEBS, CPAP, and BiPAP.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Shifts & Scheduling

• 12-hour shifts (day and night options available: 7 am – 7 pm and 7 pm – 7 am).
• Weekend and holiday work required every other occurrence.

Dress Code

Scrub color is flexible; any color is acceptable.

Unit-specific orientation will be provided.
