Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical/Telemetry

Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will be skilled in managing telemetry, interpreting cardiac rhythms, and administering medications while ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients on telemetry.
• Administer medications and cardiac drips, including nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, and Nicardipine.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and manage dysrhythmias effectively.
• Implement O2 protocols and non-invasive airway management.
• Provide patient care while adhering to isolation precautions and proper use of PPE.
• Demonstrate proficiency in computerized documentation within the electronic health record system.
• Activate rapid response teams as necessary to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification through AHA required.
• At least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in Medical/Surgical/Telemetry (neurotrauma stepdown experience with NIHHS certification preferred).
• Ability to float to other units as needed, including locations within the region.
• Experience as a traveler is preferred.
• Strong telemetry experience is required.

Schedule Requirements

• Shifts are 12 hours in duration, typically scheduled from 07:00 to 19:30.
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend, with no greater than 2 consecutive weekends off at a time.

Additional Information

• The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-6 depending on the shift.
• This position will involve working in a Short-Term Acute Care facility that serves a diverse patient population.
