Acute Travel RN: PCU

We are seeking an experienced Acute Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiac care and will be responsible for providing exceptional nursing care to patients with a variety of cardiac conditions.

Position Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN)
• Specialty: Telemetry/PCU – Cardiac
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Call Requirements: None
• Required Certifications: BLS
• Years of Experience: 2+ preferred
• Float Requirements: Not normally floated – may float to 1:1s depending on needs

Unit Information

• Patient Ratios: RN 1:5, NA 10-12 (days), 20-22 (nights)
• Equipment Used: Pacer Alines
• EHR: EPIC
• Patient Population: Cardiac geriatric

Responsibilities

The Acute Travel RN will:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the PCU with a focus on cardiac conditions.
• Monitor vital signs and assess patient conditions, communicating any changes to the healthcare team.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding their conditions and treatment plans.

Qualifications

• Must possess significant experience in cardiac care, particularly with diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Must have valid and current BLS certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude are essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to emergencies.

Additional Information

• Orientation is held weekly on Mondays.
• Every other weekend coverage may be required depending on unit staffing needs.
