Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Details

The position offers a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5, with the possibility of going to 1:6 in extreme situations. Scheduled shifts are 12 hours, from 18:45 to 07:15. The unit can accommodate block scheduling based on staffing needs and includes a requirement for every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to patients with varying acuity levels, including PCU and MS/Telemetry patients.
• Care for patients with conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, and pulmonary embolisms.
• Utilize equipment including chest tubes, ventilators, and CPAP/BiPAP devices as part of patient management.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, managing dysrhythmias as necessary.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including registered respiratory therapists and nursing leadership.

Required Skills / Certifications / Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Previous travel experience preferred.
• Skills in IV start, telemetry, CPAP/BiPAP management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS are mandatory.

Preferred Skills / Certifications

• Certification in NIHSS is preferred.

Unit Information

This is a high-acuity mixed med-surg unit with a total of 48 beds. The unit focuses on providing specialized care for patients requiring ventilatory support while ensuring no nurse is assigned more than one vent patient at a time. Resources available on the unit include:

• Admission/Discharge Nurse
• Assistant Nurse Manager
• Vascular Access Team
• Rapid Response Team (RRT)
• Code Team
• Behavioral Health Team

Scheduling and Orientation

• Unit orientation lasts for 24 hours.
• Scrubs are not provided; white or navy blue scrubs are required.

Note: RTO (Requested Time Off) post-booking is restricted. Maximum RTO allowed is 7 days for auto offers, and any additional requests could lead to cancellation of the assignment.
