NICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced NICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care to critically ill newborns in a fast-paced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This position requires expertise in caring for infants, including those with respiratory failure and other complex medical needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to patients in the NICU.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, implementing appropriate interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to create and maintain individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Educate and support families on neonatal care and treatment plans.
• Participate in patient report at the bedside during shift changes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a NICU or similar pediatric setting.
• Current certifications in BLS (AHA) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
• Demonstrated knowledge of electronic medical records; experience with Cerner is a plus.
• Availability to work 12-hour night shifts, including every other weekend and rotating holidays.
• Must be willing to float to other facilities as needed.

Unit Information

• Level 3 NICU with 26-30 beds.
• Patients predominantly include those with respiratory failure and preterm conditions; cardiac cases are not involved.
• Support for breastfeeding and designated as “baby friendly”.
• Available resources include Hospitalist or Intensivist on-site, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy available 24/7.
• Nurse aides are available as census and staffing dictates.

Additional Notes

Orientation on the floor will be provided for 1-2 days alongside a preceptor to ensure a smooth transition into the role. Self-scheduling is utilized, with the flexibility to access schedules and request additional shifts from home.
