ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to provide exceptional patient care in a dynamic critical care environment. The position primarily involves working in the Medical ICU with opportunities to float to the PCU as needed. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality care to critically ill patients.

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Notes: Days, every other weekend required

Unit Information

• Unit Type: ICU (Intensive Care Unit)
• Total Beds: 82 (48 ICU, 34 PCU)
• Patient Ratios: ICU 1:1, 1:2; PCU 1:3
• Common Diagnoses: All critical care diagnoses
• Electronic Medical Records: EPIC
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; day shifts on Saturday and Sunday
• Holidays: Rotating with permanent staff

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a critical care setting
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • BLS Certification

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU setting.
• Administer medications and IV drips as per protocols.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, adjusting care plans as necessary.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• Float to other ICUs and PCUs as needed based on staffing requirements.

Additional Information

• Floor-specific orientation: 1 week maximum with an educator; minimum of 2 shifts.
• Available Support: RT, pharmacy, and IV team available 24/7.
• Charge Nurse and Nurse Aides on each floor.
