PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated PCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the PCU Cardiac/Intermediate Care department. This position requires strong clinical skills and the ability to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced stepdown unit.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Days
• Shift Time: 7 AM – 7 PM
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

• Nurse-Patient Ratios:
  • DAYS: 1:4
  • NIGHTS: 1:5
• Common Diagnoses:
  • CHF
  • NSTEMI
  • MI
  • Heart block
  • Pacer
  • TAVR
  • CABG (post-operative)
  • General PCU overflow
• Preferred Experience: TAVR and CABG cases

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in PCU, Stepdown, or Telemetry nursing
• Required Certifications:
  • ACLS
  • BLS Certification
  • NIHSS – AHA or APEX
• No first-time travelers; must have successfully completed one assignment as a traveler

Clinical Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring
• Administer and titrate IV medications including amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, and heparin
• Work alongside dedicated monitor technicians and read telemetry strips independently
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care

Additional Information

• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend days per month
• Holiday Requirement: 3 out of 5 holidays
• Floating Requirements: ICU and MS floors as necessary
• Orientation: One day of clinical education and one day on the floor
• Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
