Certified Surgical Tech (CST)

Job Description

A Certified Surgical Tech (CST) is needed to support surgical teams in a fast-paced operating room environment. The position requires proficiency in various surgical procedures and active participation in patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures across various specialties including General, Gynecological (Gyn), Vascular, Thoracic, Orthopedics (including total joints), Neuro (head and spine), and Trauma.
• Precept and mentor junior staff and travel team members as needed.
• Support and maintain sterilization techniques and ensure a safe surgical environment.
• Be available for every other weekend and holiday coverage as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of current CST experience is required.
• Expertise in General, Gynecological, Vascular, Thoracic, Orthopedics, Neuro, and Trauma procedures is mandatory.
• Ability to precept and train others in surgical techniques.
• Experience with C-sections, ENT, Plastics, and DaVinci Robot procedures is preferred.
• Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is required; NCCT certification is not accepted.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• Familiarity with Meditech Expanse is strongly preferred.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.
• All temporary staff must submit recent supervisory references—two signed references are required.

Additional Information

• Unit Size: 8 beds.
• Facility-Provided Scrubs as part of the dress code.
• Orientation: 8 hours of non-billable orientation is required.
• Travelers must be flexible with their schedules and will be required to work during peak holiday periods including Christmas Eve through Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve through New Year’s Day.
