Operating Room Circulator Nurse
Job Description
The Operating Room Circulator Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties within a Level III Trauma facility. This role entails coordinating and managing patient care throughout the intraoperative phase, ensuring patient safety, maintaining regulatory compliance, and facilitating efficient surgical workflow.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and advocacy.
- Prepare surgical cases and manage equipment and supplies.
- Document patient care activities accurately.
- Handle specimens and administer medications as required.
- Coordinate activities with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless surgical care delivery.
- Maintain a safe and sterile environment throughout surgical procedures.
- Support a diverse caseload, including General Surgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, Robotics, Urology, Hand Surgery, Podiatry, and other surgical specialties.
- Prioritize competing demands and anticipate procedural needs.
- Respond efficiently to changing patient conditions and surgical requirements.
- Serve as the patient advocate during the surgical experience, adhering to evidence-based practices and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience in a surgical setting.
- BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
- Experience in General, Orthopedic, OBGYN, Robotics, Urology, Hand Surgery, and Podiatry is required.
- Strong clinical judgment and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information
This position may involve weeknight and weekend on-call responsibilities, with calls split among the nursing staff. Hospital-laundered scrubs will be provided, and there is no floating required.
