PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The PACU Registered Nurse will provide direct patient care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Pre-op, and Phase 2 areas across two locations within the same healthcare system. The role includes monitoring and managing patients recovering from surgery, ensuring their comfort and safety during the recovery process.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: 3×12-hour shifts
• Possible Start Times: 05:30, 07:00, 08:00, 09:30, and 11:00
• Weekend Requirements: As needed based on unit needs

Patient Ratios

• 1:1 patient-nurse ratio

Qualifications

• Active RN license (pending licenses accepted)
• 1-2 years of experience in PACU or relevant specialty preferred
• Certifications required:
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS
• Epic experience is required

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide critical post-operative care to patients in recovery.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall health status.
• Administer medications as prescribed and manage patient comfort levels.
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team and family members regarding patient status.
• Float between the main hospital and the Day Surgery Center as needed.

• Guaranteed minimum hours offered with flexibility based on unit needs.
• Parking options available with validation for the first day; subsequent parking fees apply.
• RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off allowed.
