ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in intensive care, capable of helping manage patients with complex cardiovascular and respiratory conditions among others. This position entails working in a fast-paced environment that requires keen clinical judgment and teamwork.

Position Details

• Ratios: 1:2 on all shifts
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Weekend Requirement: Yes – every other weekend
• Certifications Required: ACLS, BCLS, NIH
• On-call Requirement: No
• Floating: Yes – within adult ICUs, adult acute care, and ED for boarding inpatients
• Travel Requirement: May float between multiple locations within the region
• RTO Restrictions: Greater than 7 days will require management approval
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Administer care to acutely ill patients with complex cardiovascular problems including cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, pulmonary edema, and rhythm disturbances
• Monitor patients with acute respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, and metabolic disturbances

Special Procedures and Unit Details

• CVP monitoring
• Target Temperature Management
• PA/Swan-Ganz catheter management
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• Cardiac Pacemaker monitoring and management
• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) care
• Management of post-cath radial band
• Initiating and titrating medications including vasopressors and sedation
• Assist with RSI, central line placement, and arterial line placement
• Administer blood products and perform femoral-arterial/venous sheath removal

Required Skills and Equipment Proficiency

• Utilization of Zoll/Arctic Sun for target temperature management
• Familiarity with NxStage CRRT, Zoll defibrillator, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispenser
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Care for multi-system organ failure and post-cardiac interventions
• Management of chronic/acute renal failure including CVVHD and fistula care
• Capability to manage IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/PICC line care
• Perform arterial line management and blood product administration

Professional Skills

• Infection prevention and isolation precautions
• Effective use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Computerized charting with EPIC (preferred)
