Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Telemetry
Job Overview
This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care in a medical-surgical telemetry unit. Registered Nurses will be responsible for monitoring patients’ conditions, managing medications, and delivering effective interventions based on patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret telemetry readings.
- Manage dysrhythmias and administer appropriate interventions.
- Provide care for patients with bowel obstructions and ostomy management.
- Administer feeding tube care and hemodialysis management.
- Handle blood product administration and peripheral line care.
- Perform phlebotomy and manage central and PICC lines.
- Provide respiratory support including BiPAP and CPAP management.
- Utilize isolation precautions and proper PPE.
- Implement wound care and management protocols.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations and participate in rapid response teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
- BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required.
- Charge experience is preferred.
- ACLS certification is a plus.
Shift Information
Shifts are available for the night schedule, specifically 18:45 – 07:15. Candidates can opt for 36 or 48-hour shifts, with contracts ranging from 13 to 26 weeks. Weekend work will be required on an alternate basis.
Job Expectations
- Must be flexible to float to other units as necessary.
- Availability to work during catastrophic events and disasters is required.
- All staff will participate in orientation and training, averaging 24 hours.
Patient Population
Candidates will work with a diverse patient population, including those with diagnoses such as diabetes, dementia, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and more. Familiarity with these conditions will be beneficial.
Unit Systems
Experience with Pyxis for medication administration and electronic documentation is preferred.
Scrubs
Navy blue or white scrubs are required for the role.
