Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team on a Medical-Surgical unit. The ideal candidate will be able to provide high-quality patient care, addressing the needs of adults and geriatric patients with general medical and surgical diagnoses.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to a daily census of approximately 43 patients.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, documenting changes and necessary interventions.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes.
• Participate in the management and care of patients with potential COVID-19 exposure.
• Be an active member of the Inclement Weather Team, responding to staffing needs during adverse weather conditions.
• Handle responsibilities for all scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of nursing experience required; first-time travelers welcome.
• Experience with EPIC documentation system is mandatory.
• Current BCLS certification required.
• Preferred certifications include CPI and charge nurse experience.

Shift Details

• 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• 36 or 48 hours per week accepted; 13-26 weeks contracts available.
• Charge role is preferred for night travelers.

Patient Care Procedures

• Management of Heparin drips.
• Wound Vacuum dressing changes.
• Administration of high-flow oxygen therapy.
• Limited short-term BiPap with respiratory support for appropriate patients.

Unit Orientation

A comprehensive 24-hour orientation will be provided to acclimate new staff to the unit’s protocols and procedures.

Additional Information

• All staff members are required to participate in unit team meetings held monthly.
• Participation in additional meetings for night shift staff will be scheduled accordingly.
• Scrubs are not provided; staff should wear navy scrubs.
• All travelers and staff may be required to work during catastrophic events, disasters, or mass casualty situations.
