Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele Float

Position Overview

This position is for an ED Holding Support role located in the Float Pool. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for caring for patients within the Emergency Department who are awaiting inpatient beds. These patients may have various medical and surgical adult diagnoses, and you may also encounter PCU-level patients.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients in the ED Holding unit, including those requiring telemetry and MS/Tele care.
• Float between the Emergency Department, Medical Surgical, and other areas as needed.
• Provide care for patients with conditions including renal failure, management of dysrhythmias, and administering blood products.
• Conduct phlebotomy and manage IV access, including peripheral and PICC line management.
• Maintain isolation precautions and manage high-flow oxygen therapy.
• Utilize rapid response teams and document using Pyxis and Epic systems.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Traveler experience is required.
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
• Proficient in monitoring telemetry, interpreting dysrhythmias, and managing patient conditions like colostomy care and feeding tube management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in NIHSS.
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and pre/post hemodialysis management.
• Familiarity with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and orthopedic trauma.
• Wound care management experience, including the use of wound vacs.

Work Schedule

Shifts are primarily nights, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend commitment is required.

Patient Care Setting

You will be working in a mixed unit with high-acuity patients, primarily focusing on adult medical and surgical diagnoses.

Additional Information

• All contract staff may be assigned to work on Storm Teams or Hurricane Teams and may be required to report during catastrophic events.
• Unit orientation will be provided for 12 hours.
• Scrubs required are navy blue.
