Registered Nurse (RN) – MS/Tele Float

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the MS/Tele Float unit, specifically focused on the ED Holding area. The unit caters to adult patients within the Emergency Department who are awaiting inpatient beds. Candidates are expected to be versatile and provide care across various settings including MedSurg, Telemetry, and may encounter patients at the PCU level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for adult patients with various medical/surgical diagnoses.
• Take on MS/Tele cases, while also floating to ED and MedSurg areas as necessary.
• Maintain telemetry monitoring and manage dysrhythmias, including interpretation and appropriate interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments, including blood products and insulin protocol.
• Perform advanced patient care procedures such as colostomy and feeding tube management.
• Demonstrate skills in airway management, including CPAP/BiPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
• Utilize standards for isolation precautions and manage complex patient needs effectively.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Traveler experience preferred.
• Current certifications in BLS and ACLS required.
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring and management, including remote monitoring.
• Ability to provide care in high-acuity settings, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

• NIHSS certification.
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and pre/post hemodialysis management.
• Experience in neuro surgeries and spinal cord injury care.
• Wound care management, including the use of wound vacs.

Job Details:

• Patient Ratios: 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU level patients.
• Shift: Night shifts available – 36 or 48 hours weekly.
• RTO: Maximum of 7 days allowed.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required.
• Contract staff may be required to respond during catastrophic events or disasters.

Orientation and Additional Information:

• Unit orientation: 12 hours.
• Required to wear navy scrubs.
• All candidates must pass an EKG test prior to starting in this specialty.
