Medical Technologist (MT) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Job Description

A critical access facility is seeking qualified Medical Technologists (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT) for a 13-week assignment. The position involves rotating shifts, with a standard schedule of three 12-hour days per week from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, following an initial week of training.

Responsibilities

• Perform essential laboratory tests and analyses.
• Conduct microbiology testing, including gram stains, planting cultures, and blood cultures.
• Administer blood bank testing as required.
• Draw blood and carry out phlebotomy with proficiency.
• Adhere to Covid regulations and policies regarding personal protective equipment and isolation procedures.
• Assist in staffing by filling in for Thursday night shifts and picking up vacancies as needed.
• Work holidays as part of a rotating schedule.
• Effectively multitask and prioritize responsibilities within the laboratory environment.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Technician program.
• Experience in microbiology is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and meet departmental demands.
• Strong communication skills and the capacity to work as part of a team.

Additional Information

The facility reserves the right to cancel up to three shifts within the first 12 weeks of the assignment. The schedule may involve rotating weekends, typically every fifth weekend, with no on-call requirements.
