Registered Nurse – Oncology/Hematology

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse specializing in Oncology and Hematology to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Contract Details

• Length of Contract: Preferred 26–51 weeks. Shorter contracts may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Shift: 12-hour shifts with 36 hours guaranteed per week.
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
• Holiday RTO Policy: 1 holiday may be requested off, with the option for 2 federal holidays per year and additional non-essential holidays.

Unit Overview

This role is based in a 21-bed unit that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of hematological and oncology conditions. The unit also provides palliative and inpatient hospice care, symptom management, and support for patients with progressive diagnoses.

Qualifications

• Education: ADN or BSN from an accredited program.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care nursing experience is required. Experience in oncology or hematology is preferred.
• Certifications:
  • AHA BLS certification required at time of submission.
  • Chemotherapy Certification preferred.
• License: Valid KS or Multistate license without hits; all required certifications and licensure must be provided at the time of submission.

Additional Requirements

• Float Requirements: Willingness to float to other post-surgical and med-surg inpatient floors as needed.
• Charting System: Familiarity with Epic is preferred (testing options available).
• Staffing Ratios: 1:6; 1:4 with active chemotherapy infusions.

Appearance and Vaccination Requirements

• Scrub Color: Navy.
• Jewelry and Body Adornment Policy: Visible tattoos are allowed, provided they are not offensive or inappropriate. Piercings are acceptable if they do not interfere with job duties.
• Vaccination Requirements: Proof of immunity status for Hep B, MMR, and Varicella (obtained via titer) or completed vaccination series; TDaP and Influenza vaccinations required during the flu season.
