Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology/Hematology

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in Oncology and Hematology to provide exceptional patient care in a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering high-quality care and improving patient outcomes for those facing hematological and oncology diagnoses.

Contract Details

• Length of Contract: Preferred duration of 26-51 weeks, with consideration for 13-week contracts on a case-by-case basis.
• Shift: 12-hour shifts, with 36 hours guaranteed per week.
• Weekend Rotation: Required every other weekend.
• Holiday Rotation: Request to take one holiday off is permitted; holidays include 2 federal holidays per year, 1 spring holiday, and 2 winter non-essential holidays.

Unit Information

The Registered Nurse will be part of a 21-bed unit focused on:

• Diagnosis and treatment of hematological and oncology conditions.
• Palliative and inpatient hospice/end-of-life care.
• Caring for specialized medical patients with tracheostomies.
• Administering inpatient chemotherapy.
• Providing symptom management and supportive care for progressive diagnoses.

Qualifications

• Education: ADN or BSN required.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-year acute care nursing experience; oncology/hematology experience preferred.
• Certifications: AHA BLS certification required at the time of submission; Chemotherapy certification preferred.
• Licensure: Valid RN license in Kansas or a multistate license; no hits allowed.
• Charting System: Experience with Epic is preferred (test-out option available).

Additional Information

• Staffing Ratios: 1:6; 1:4 with active chemotherapy infusions.
• Scrub Color: Navy.
• Jewelry and Body Adornment: Visible tattoos permitted if appropriate for the setting; facial and ear piercings are acceptable if they do not impede job duties.
• Vaccination Requirements: Immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella required, along with TB documentation. TDaP and influenza vaccinations are required or exemption requests during flu season.
